Glass-Mat Exterior Sheathing (DensGlass) Installation

Glass-mat gypsum sheathing—like GP DensGlass—resists moisture and mold and is a standard backer for commercial exterior walls. We install it tight, fastened to pattern and detailed at openings so the air and water barrier can go on clean.

Scope

What our glass-mat sheathing work includes

Sheathing is the base for everything on the outside of the wall. We keep boards tight, joints staggered and fasteners flush—not overdriven—so the air barrier, insulation and cladding installers have a flat, sound surface to work on.

FAQ

Glass-Mat Sheathing questions

What is glass-mat sheathing?

It's a gypsum panel faced with fiberglass mats instead of paper. Brands like GP DensGlass resist moisture and mold, which makes them a common exterior sheathing for commercial buildings.

Do you install sheathing on wood framing too?

Yes. We install glass-mat and plywood sheathing on both metal stud and wood-framed walls.
